And Then the Rains Came…

Quick, Let’s Celebrate!

Finally!  The rain has begun in Napa Valley, and the exhausted vines are soaking it up.  I can almost hear their sighs of relief as parched earth relaxes into mud and puddles and their deep roots take long, satisfying drinks.  They worked hard this year producing a sumptuous crop of perfect grapes for us to turn into beautiful wines.  The vines need this season to rest and restore so all may begin again next spring.

So let’s get the party started! $10 ground shipping on all Frisson 750 ml wines, from six bottles to six cases!

We hope you will want to put Frisson Wines on your table this Christmas and holiday season. So, from today through January 4, 2016, we are offering a $10 ground shipping special on our 2010 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon and our 2012 Dutton Ranch Russian River Chardonnay.  Magnums ship for $25 each.  Visit the “Our Wines” page on our website, to order.

As a friend said just the other night, “That 2010 Cab is AMAZING, and it’s just $60! I need another case!”  Every time we open a bottle of our 2010, we marvel at how beautifully it is maturing.  Dark fruit, a bit of chocolate and leather, a beautiful mouth feel and a long, long finish.  Yummmmm.  It is fantastic with short ribs or lamb.  If we don’t feel like cooking, it is delightful with Piave cheese.  We are extremely proud of our medals and 94 ratings this wine has won.

Let’s don’t slight the 2012 Chardonnay… we have converted more than one Chardonnay “avoider” to the Frisson side. Quote: “I normally don’t like Chardonnay; too overblown and oaky, but I love this one!”  Want to know why?  Frisson Dutton Ranch Russian River Chardonnay is a Wente Clone, a character-laden grape developed from Burgundy cuttings almost a century ago.  A light hand on the oak, 100% malolactic fermentation for delicious mouth feel, and you get a wine that we love to drink.  As Terry says, “Think Meursault.” Fruit and acid in beautiful balance. $45. Yes, it is wonderful with goat cheese and tomato bruschetta.

Frisson!  Frisson!  We are now available in 19 states!

We have been very busy folks this year.  Terry has traveled coast to coast introducing Frisson Wines to our distributors and customers in new markets.  In addition to Texas and California we can now be found in Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Washington state.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter has been lots of fun for us as we have continued to stay connected with our growing circle of “Frisson Seekers”.  If you haven’t seen us, check us out @FrissonWines.

New release, new label for our 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

That’s all we want to say about that for now, but will tell you this:  Our upcoming release is going to be your favorite 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. More news in the New Year. (Hint: black currants, raspberries, vanilla…)

Our Winemaker, Wayne Donaldson, is coming to Houston and Masraffs.

We have a fabulous winemaker!  We love Wayne Donaldson, including his Aussie accent, and are very excited he is coming to Houston in January.  Wayne will be pouring our wines at Double Decanted on Tuesday, January 12th and he will be joining us at Masraff’s on Wednesday, January 13th at a wine dinner dedicated to showcasing Frisson Wines, including our new 2011 release.  We hope you will want to join us.  Contact Masraff’s at 713- 355-8139 for information and reservations.

Hey!  That’s Terry on the radio!

Recently Terry had a lively radio interview on “Delicious Mischief”, an online magazine inspired by a radio show. It will air on Saturday, December 13th on four Texas stations and be available as a podcast.

2014 has been very, very good to us.

Gratitude has no season, but we particularly look back on this year with full hearts.  2014 is the birth year of three Frisson grandchildren.  It is also the year of our continuing health, happiness and contentment.  We “survived” the earthquake, won lots of medals and high ratings, christened a boat, had an entertaining summer, a successful harvest, and now look forward to a wonderful 2015.

While we are celebrating the passing of the old and welcoming the new, we’d like to take a moment to say thank you to our dear friends and fans, old and new, who make this adventure so interesting and fun.  We are grateful for the encouragement we have received and very excitedly look forward to another season of grape growing and wine making.  And wine drinking too, of course!

Most of all, we look forward to sharing our wines with you and hearing your thoughts and anecdotes regarding your own wine journey. Look for us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @frissonwines.  We’d love to see your pictures and remarks.  Use #frissonwines or #frissonfridays  when you post. Please feel free to share this newsletter with your friends who love fine wines.

Merry Christmas!  Happy New Year! Happy Holidays!

Terry and Pam Davis
