2012 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Double Gold Medal Winner
Ascend Diamond Mountain about 1,100 feet and turn your face to the east. Be sure of your footing on this steep, rock strewn slope. In fact, a mere single acre has been carved from this tiny appellation in the Mayacamas range, and it is unique in its terroir: a chalky island in a sea of volcanic and porous soils rarely found anywhere in the Napa Valley. And where it has been discovered, amazingly exceptional grapes are cultivated. Diamond Mountain is recognized by knowledgeable collectors to be the home of Cabernet Sauvignon with well-developed tannins capable of housing powerfully intense dark fruits counteracted with chocolate and cassis complexities, with refined balance and a long finish.
Pairings: Enjoy this wine with delicately-flavored and tender cuts of beef such as rare prime rib, grilled New York strip steak or filet mignon.
